FALL BIRDING at the BAILEY TRACT, PALMYRA COVE NATURE PARK, NJ.
Eight DVOC members met at the Palmyra Cove Nature Center on 10/03/04 at 7 AM. Someone spotted a Yellow-billed Cuckoo and we had great looks at it as it moved around on a snag warming up in the first light of the day. We saw DVOC member Mick Jeitner about half way through the walk and he showed us around the area. We ended up with 54 species of birds including 9 species of Warblers; Northern Parula, Black-throated Green Warbler, Black and White Warbler, Black-throated Blue Warbler, Yellow-rumped Warbler, American Redstart, Palm Warbler, Common Yellowthroat, and Ovenbird.
It was a good experience to get to know DVOC club members in
the field where everyone contributed and shared their knowledge of birds.
