DVOC Field Trip Report
by Denis Brennan

September 14, 2008
John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge at Tinicum, PA

On Sunday, 9/14/2008 nine members and seven guests of the DVOC met at the John Heinz NWR at Tinicum at 8.00 AM. We started on the field trip shortly thereafter and the temperature and humidity made it very uncomfortable. It turned out to be a fairly slow day, however, we spent a lot of time observing the birds we did see. After observing several confusing fall warblers the group discussed the various identifying features on them while we birded. It was a treat to see everybody participating in the discussions and to see it continue for the rest of the bird walk. We spent about 1/2 hour on the large boardwalk enjoying a slight breeze before heading out to the Observation Tower. We started birding our way back to the parking area and ended the walk at 11 AM.
