Phil Witmer to lead a walk at Mill Grove on April 15th at 8 AM.
Linda Widdop announces that Pennsylvania Game Commission seeks volunteers to monitor heron rookeries in PA. Details will be sent in the Weekly Digest.
Barb Bassett reports that a Raven’s nest is active at Beasley’s Point power station – first reported in Cape May county for many years. Please check in with the power plant if you go. Directions on eBird.
Ken Walsh saw the Tufted Duck in Cape May county. Plus 2 Little Gulls at Spruce Run Reservoir in Clinton NJ. Also made a stop at Silver Lake in Bucks County to see Rusty Blackbirds
Marty Dellwo stopped at Pennypack on the Delaware tonight and found an Eastern Meadowlark and FOY Blue-gray Gnatcatcher.
Barb Bassett reports that Coral Ave in Cape May is a good spot to see spring migration and Gannets close to shore.
Mike O’Brien reported 3 Black Vultures at the Bell Towers near 54th St in Philadelphia. Also roosting on the building.
Discussion of Bald Eagle nests in Phila area at John Heinz, Pennypack on the Delaware, Pennypack Trust and another found in Claymont DE (previously unreported).
Linda Widdop reports that she has a Screech Owl roosting in the owl box in the yard in Rydal PA.
Presentation of 2016 Billing’s Big Year Award – Art McMorris
Art McMorris, Liz Billings and Karen Walter present the award to Barb Bassett for reporting 317 species in 2016.
Included in Barb’s total are 6 species not seen previously in this event: White-faced Storm-Petrel, Great Skua, Fork-tailed Flycatcher, Rock Wren, Mountain Bluebird and Varied Thrush.
