I have been a birder since the day I saw a Wood Thrush in a New Orleans park when I was 12. Birding brought me to a biology major in college, graduate work on bird behavior in Panama, and now to a career in teaching and research at Princeton. I live in Philly and work in Princeton, so I bird in both places and in between. In the Philly area, John Heinz and FDR park are my go-to spots. In New Jersey, Palmyra Cove and Taylor's Wildlife Preserve are favorites. I have a toddler so my birding time is more limited than it used to be, but when I have longer days afield, I usually head to the NJ coast.
