As long as I can remember, I have been interested in the natural
world from microbes to whales. My wife Elizabeth and I have enjoyed
watching birds at our backyard feeders for over 40 years. I was
greatly influenced to observe and identify birds starting around 2023
by a fellow Friends of the Wissahickon Trail Ambassador, Andi Wigert,
who through her musical ear and tremendous patience began to help me
to identify some of the birds that I was hearing on hikes. Her
untimely death inspired me to deliberately begin birding. Since then
I have tried to regularly join birding walks with DVOC and Liberty
Bird Alliance. Since 2024 I have add bird photography to my list of
passions.
