DVOC Interns Fund
As the result of a very exciting suggestion by past president Hart Rufe, DVOC has established a new fund to support interns in the Ornithology Department at the Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University. An investment fund has been established, with the earnings being used to support ornithology interns working at the Academy. Interns will primarily be high school or college age, and they must be, or become, members of DVOC. The program will help encourage and support young people interested in birds; support ornithological work at the Academy; and further strengthen ties between DVOC and the Academy. Initial funding has been provided by a very generous $10,000 gift from Hart and Jewel Rufe, and will be augmented by additional funds raised by DVOC in the future. The investments will be managed by the Trustees, and the program will be administered by a committee chaired by Chris Walters. DVOC offers its heartfelt thanks to Hart and Jewel for their vision and generosity.
We encourage further donations from members of the Club or the public to help build this Intern Fund, so that it can provide stronger support for interns. The larger the Fund, the more its earnings can support one or more interns. Your tax-deductible contribution may be made by sending your check, payable to DVOC, to the DVOC Treasurer, Bert Filemyr at 1314 Lenore Road, Meadowbrook, PA 19046. Please place a note ”Intern Fund” in the notation line on your check. You may also donate on-line using the “Donate” button on this page.
