Pennypack on the Delaware is uniquely positioned along the river, providing crucial habitat for migrants and the odd rarity. The flats at the confluence of Pennypack Creek and the Delaware frequently host gulls and shorebirds.
Let’s meet at the covered picnic area (GPS: 40.0277033, -75.012093). We’ll walk around 1.5 miles on a mix of paved and dirt trails. If the tide is low enough, we’ll likely check out the mud flats, which requires a very short off-trail excursion. Dress for weather.
No binoculars? No worries! Birding backpacks with binoculars and field guides are on loan at all Philly Free Library branches.
The event is free and open to everyone.
