Join BirdPhilly and Philly Queers Birders as we check out Philadelphia’s winter bird residents at the Navy Yard! We’ll meet up at the intersection of South 13th Street and Admiral Peary Way to find the ducks that hang out on the Delaware River, and to see who else is around. We’ll keep and eye out for for Cormorants, Gulls, Raptors Woodpeckers, Sparrows, and other winter birds! No registration is required and plenty of binoculars to share.
The Navy Yard Riverfront Trail is a wide, flat, paved path with benches along the way and we’ll move at a leisurely pace with frequent stops to scan the river. Since it’s a winter morning and on the water, it will probably be colder and windier than in other parts of the city so dress accordingly. There is free parking on 13th, 11th and along Admiral Peary Way. Please do not park in the private lots as you could be towed. The 17 bus also extends to the Navy Yard on the weekends.
Note there are no bathrooms along the route, but there is a Courtyard Hotel nearby.
