Cape May Hawk Migration Field Trip – Date Depends on Conditions (sometime between September 27 -October 10th)

One of the best hawk migration locations in North America with the best flight days typically around October 1, on days following cold fronts with strong northwesterly winds. Unfortunately, these peak flights don’t always come on weekends. So rather than hoping for a good weekend flight, we’ll watch the weather maps to cherry-pick the best weather conditions. Interested people can sign up (and back out) any time it’s convenient. Two or three days before the trip we’ll pick a field day and contact all registrants as to the day and determine the logistics. If conditions are right, some of us might turn this into a two-day trip to catch the passerine migration at Highbee Beach. With flexibility and cell phones, anything is possible.
