Hummingbird HabitatSpeaker: Cindy Ahern
Cindy Ahern’s journey began with a visit from a Ruby-throated Hummingbird, resulting in the transformation of her yard into a full-fledged bird habitat! Along with the hummingbirds, her typical suburban property has a list of 129 other bird species! Ahern will share tales of successes, drawbacks, and surprises along the way, with suggestions for attracting hummingbirds, along other tips for creating a bird-friendly urban/suburban habitat! Ahern is an adjunct professor in the Temple University’s Department of Landscape Architecture and Horticulture in the Tyler School of Art.
Included in the meeting will be the presentation of the 2018 Bob Billings Big Year award to Sandra Keller, who saw 303 species of birds in the DVOC program area in 2018. Members of Bob Billings’s family will be present, and Sandra will give us a brief talk about her big year effort.
