Illuminating Sparrows of the Northeast: Brightening a Drab StereotypeSpeaker: Ian Gardner
Ian Gardner will tour us through the suite of sparrows in the Northeastern U.S. to provide pointers about identification, including voice and behavior. He is a former wildlife biologist at Fort Indiantown Gap who hails from Harrisburg, PA. He earned his B.S. degree in Wildlife Conservation from Juniata College and his M.S. degree in Forest Resources from Penn State. He is currently the conservation committee chair for the Appalachian Audubon Society and the secretary for the PA Ornithological Records Committee. When he’s not birding, he and his girlfriend are working on various projects involving permaculture; for instance, how to convert their backyard into a suburban homestead.
