The Pedagogy of Leading a Birdwalk

Katrina will discuss how to lead accessible and inclusive bird walks in an ever-changing world and why it benefits everyone. Inspired by 19 years in the classroom and 2 years as a founding member of In Color Birding Club she will share small tricks and larger cultural shifts that can increase the number of people who keep showing up for birds and #birdjoy.
Katrina Clark is a teacher by day and birder by afternoon and weekend. A pandemic birder, on a walk to get fresh air, she discovered that birds were fascinating when a friend pointed out a catbird on a West Philly fence. Currently, she is a founding board member of In Color Birding Club which seeks to ensure people of color have safe, joyful, and rewarding access to green spaces and the practice of birding.
