The Long-eared owl is one of North America’s most charismatics bird species. But did you know that their plumage may contain hidden signals? Tune in for a story about owl plumage, birding in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, and how failures can lead to unexpected discoveries.


Our speaker, Emily Griffith, is a Ph.D. student and ornithologist at the Academy of ​Natural Sciences of Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA.

She has 8+ years of experience in scientific research ​working on a variety of projects from evolutionary ​biology and systematics to behavior analysis.
