I’m a young birder from southern Chester County. I was very interested in raptors from a young age (around 5 years old) and started going to Larry Lewis’ hawkwatch at Bucktoe Creek Preserve. In first grade we had a bird unit, and I learned about the American Robin. My first grade teacher was a birder and helped me get into birding. When I was 10, I started homeschooling, and a whole new world of birding possibilities opened up. I have competed in 2 World Series of Birding in the middle school division, and have traveled to Costa Rica. I bird locally around Kennett Square, at places such as Chandler Mill Nature Preserve and Bucktoe Creek. I love traveling to Cape May in the fall for the amazing spectacle of migration. This year my team, the Garnet Valley Vireos, finished in first place in the PSO Breeding Bird Blitz.
