My interest in birds began about 14 years ago after I put up a feeder in the front yard of my new house. Since then, I had just
been watching the birds that visit the feeder and going on an annual occasional walk at John Heinz Wildlife refuge, usually in May, led by Gregg Gorton. A recent trip to Jamaica, however, revolutionised my interest--in particular, hearing the call of Asio grammicus, and I have since become a more active birder.
