I want to begin birding and don\'t really know where to start. My
son Nick was killed in the mass shooting at Roxborough High School
last September. He is my only child and his murder has completely
devastated me. I am looking to fill my time with new activities and
interests. He loves nature and environmental science so much. I
decided to incorporate more of the natural world into my life. I am
becoming a Master Naturalist.
I learned that I really appreciate and notice birds since Nick was
killed. I would like to learn more, develop a new hobby, and meet new
friends. Also, I feel that Nick is talking to me through birds. I
have done a lot of traveling since he died. I have a constant need to
get away from this environment. I got to see so many birds that I had
never seen before. It was great.
