Birdwalk at West Fairmount Park
Please join us for a bird walk in the central portion of West Fairmount Park. While popular with trail runners and mountain bikers only few people have experienced the variety of birds that can be found here. Spring migration is slowly ramping up and we can expect to see the first vireos, thrushes and warblers. Maybe we even find a first Robin nest or two.
Let’s meet at the parking lot next to the Car BarnCar BarnCar Barn building (GPS coordinates: 39.989201, -75.209724). The walk will include some up- and downhills on rugged trails.
We will walk while the City Nature Challenge is underway. All you need is the iNaturalist app to participate. More information under https://www.inaturalist.org/projects/city-nature-challenge-2020-greater-philadelphia-area?tab=about.
You don’t have a pair of binoculars? Birding backpacks (including binoculars and field guide) are available at the following libraries: Andorra, Cobbs Creek, Cecil B. Moore, Logan, Richmond, South Philly and Widener.
The event is free and open to everyone.
