Field Trips – Linda Widdop
We have had good warbler migration this spring and we are now wrapping up. Unfortunately we did not have the Upland Sandpiper trip this year but hope to next year. If you wish to lead a field trip, contact Linda: linda@techimpact.org.

Navin Sasikumar announced the club picnic will be at Barb’ Bassett’s house on August 2nd.
Patrick announced that the annual photo contest bird of the year will be the Cedar Waxwing.
Local Notes
Rob Bierregaard had a Common Grackle catch a frog at his house.
Linda Widdop saw the European Storm Petrel in Cape May last week.
Bert Filemyr reported that there was a Wood Stork in Delaware and it was chaseable.
Debbie Beer saw 2 Gull-billed Terns at the Navy Yard.
Peter Hamner had a Mississippi Kite at Heinz that was perched for a bit.
Patrick had a Mourning Warbler and Yellow-Breasted Chat at Heinz.
Martin Dellwo had 2 different Mourning Warblers at Rittenhouse Square.
Bert saw many breeding warblers up in the Poconos. Peter Hamner heard the Swainson’s Warbler at Fort Worthington State Forest.
Judy Stepenaskie had Hooded Warbler Worm-Eating Warbler and others at her campground in Blue Knob state park.
Linda Rowan had a Wood Duck with 9 babies in the creek behind her house in Levittown, Bucks County. She also had 3 young in the Red-tailed Hawk nest on the power tower. The Peregrine nest on the PA/NJ connector bridge has one fledged young.
Martin stated that Anne Becker had Common Merganser with babies in Manayunk.

Evening Program
Jim Wright (in person) – Fierce and Fast
Jim Wright discussed his new book The Peregrine Falcon: The Epic Life and Times of the World’s Fastest Creature, detailing the history and lives of the Peregrine Falcon. He talked about how Peregrine Falcons almost became extinct and rebounded as well as his time spent monitoring falcon nests. Jim also talked about his other book The Real James Bond that features the DVOC member and ornithologies James Bond.
