Banquet 2016 Highlights and Photos

The 2016 DVOC Banquet was held at the Sheet Metal Workers Union Hall on Thursday, November 17th. 85 members and guests enjoyed a lively night with drinks and dinner. Before the official program began, a moment of silence was held for Steve Kacir, the late DVOC president, and other members who left us this past year. This was followed by the awards ceremony. George Armistead and Hart Rufe were the joint winners of the Witmer Stone Award (best publication which embodies the results of ornithological research not undertaken in the course of professional duties). Dr. Stephen Kress won the Rosalie Edge Conservation award and Matthew Halley received the Julian K. Potter Award for outstanding contributions to field ornithology. Speaker Katie Fallon presented a thought-provoking talk on the Cerulean Warbler and the effects of habitat loss through strip mining and other human activities on its population. After the program, some members adjourned to ‘For Pete’s Sake’ for post dinner refreshments.
