From team member Matt Halley:
“Our total was 147, and we came in 2nd place in the Carbon Footprint Cup. We had a great day actually, beating our previous Ridin’ Birdy record, and we cleaned up on the Belleplain breeders, but alas it was not enough to compete with the CMBO team who stayed on the island and had a great morning for migrants. We ended up riding ~72 miles, starting at Heislerville at midnight, continuing on to Belleplain and then a southeastern route to Stone Harbor / Nummy’s, etc., reaching Cape May island around 2pm. We picked up a bunch more birds on the island, and then got caught in a torrential downpour at the end of the day. We were all soaked and cold, but still managed to get back out to the Magnesite plant after the storm to pick up Common Nighthawk. We are proud that we broke our record and to take 2nd place. Thanks to everyone for their support! We will give a more detailed breakdown at the next meeting.”
Ridin’ Birdy needs your support to reach our goal of $2500 to support DVOC’s BirdPhilly. Flat donations are great, or you can pledge to donate $1-$3 per bird.
