Gregg Gorton: Members’ Night will be on January 9, 2020–one week later than usual. Per tradition, it will be a pot-luck affair. Bert Filemyr will give a talk on some aspect of DVOC history. Location: Discovery Center.

Local Notes:
Barb Bassett – at Beach Plum Farm, Cape May: Mountain Bluebird. At field across from the Beanery, Cape May: Harris’ Sparrow, Grasshopper Sparrow and Western-type Flycatcher (DNA analysis of its poop is ongoing).
Tori Sindlinger & Katrina Rakowski – Tori found a Bufflehead at Woodlands Cemetery (on the river), which is the first record in eBird for that site; and they had Wilson’s Snipe, Red-shouldered Hawk, and Common Gallinule at Heinz NWR.

Birds in Winter: Surviving the Most Challenging Season
Speaker: Roger Pasquier
Roger provided a wealth of information about how birds adapt during the cold season, illustrated with images of many birds. He drew from his new book of the same title, which he made available for sale to members.
