The City Nature Challenge is coming to Philly!

The City Nature Challenge (CNC) is coming to the Greater Philadelphia Area for the first time this year! This worldwide bioblitz happening from April 26-29th aims to engage residents in documenting the biodiversity of urban areas around the world and Philadelphia will be competing with 150+ cities around the world including the likes of Pittsburgh, NYC, London, and Hong Kong. The winners will be decided on 3 categories – most species, most observations, and most observers. To participate and help Philadelphia win, take photos or audio recordings of birds, plants or any other wild things you see and upload them to iNaturalist (https://www.inaturalist.org/). The observations need to be made from April 26-29th in Philadelphia, Montgomery, Delaware or Bucks counties in PA or Camden, Gloucester or Burlington counties in NJ. You don’t need to identify everything you see, a combination of automatic image recognition and community peer reviewers will help you identify that wildflower or the bee pollinating it that you couldn’t recognize.
