On May 12th the Delaware Valley Ornithological Club with The American Birding Association and Steiner Optics will field a team competing in New Jersey Audubon’s World Series of Birding Carbon Footprint Challenge. Katrina Rakowski, Jeff Gorden, Bull Gervasi, and Tony Croasdale will bicycle for 24 hours attempting to identify as many bird species by sight and sound as possible. This team will be raising funds for BirdPhilly, a partnership between DVOC and Philadelphia Parks and Recreation which provides a yearly series of free birding trips, birding backpacks at Philadelphia libraries, birding workshops, and birding programs for the visually impaired.
