All,
Sadly, I was again asked to share that one of our well known birders passed away today. Ron lived on Creek Rd. at what is now Peace Valley Park going back to 1961. He lived there for many years. He took over leading the bird walks and field trips for Peace Valley Nature Center in 1989 and continued into 2002. In recent years he contributed to the historical records of birds at Peace Valley at my request by entering data into eBird from a journal that was kept from 1961 to 1989 by Fred Mears, his predecessor leading the bird walks at PVNC. This was not a small task, but he believed strongly that it was of value. He was active in banding birds both at home and Island Beach State Park years ago. He was active in the DVOC including going through all the officer positions including president. He traveled to many of the premier birding destinations in Central and South American, etc. I talked him into being the first president of the new Bucks Co. Birders Club even though he had “retired.”  I knew he would be the best to start the club. Ron was one of the most kind, caring, and generous people in many ways to many people, not just birding friends. His always pleasant disposition and positive, enthusiastic leading of the walks and well planned trips were always highlights whether a lot of birds were seen or not. These are just some initial thoughts that come to mind.
Ron had been in failing health this year. Those who knew him will have many fond memories. At this time, there is no planned memorial service.
